The ICnano scanning ion conductance microscope is supplied in two versions. Each has a different scan head, and tailored modular high voltage amplifier system.

Sample scan - ICnano S

The ICnano S scan head is a self-contained, free-standing unit, that may be positioned on an inverted optical microscope stage or on a bench. The sample holder is scanned and the probe is modulated. X, Y and Z piezo ranges are 100um. The entire sample stage is positioned in X and Y by DC motor translation units, with a range of 15mm. The modulated probe head is positioned in Z by a DC motor translation unit with a range of 25mm. The standard sample holder is designed to take a 35mm diameter dish. An optional holder is available to carry a perfusion plate.

Pipette scan - ICnano P

The ICnano P scan head is bolted onto the fixed framework of an inverted optical microscope, straddling and independent of the moving table. The probe is scanned and modulated. X and Y piezo ranges are 100um. Z piezo range is 25um. The entire probe assembly is positioned in X, Y by manual micrometer adjustment, and in Z by a DC motor translation unit. The adjustment range is 18mm in X and Y, and 25mm in Z. The sample will normally be mounted in a standard holder on the microscope moving table. Its position relative to the scan head can be adjusted using the microscope controls. The scan head probe can be aligned to the microscope optical system axis using the scan heads X and Y micrometers.
